Since May, the State of Qatar faces a diplomatic and economic blockade, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, followed by Bahrain and Egypt. They cite Qatar’s alleged support for terrorism – the main point being Qatar’s relations with Iran and the Moslem Brotherhood. Qatar has long practiced an ambitious foreign policy with different priorities to its neighbours. However, Riyad’s attempt to bring Doha in line with its own new aggressive policies has proved difficult.
