RUDOLF SCHOLTEN IN CONVERSATION WITH CHRISTOPH WIEDERKEHR
CONSTRUCTION SITES AND MATTERS OF THE HEART
Since November 2020, Vienna has been governed by a social-liberal progressive coalition led by Mayor Michael Ludwig. NEOS state spokesperson Christoph Wiederkehr is Deputy Mayor and, as Mayor, responsible for education, youth and integration. These are areas in which a constantly growing city like Vienna faces major challenges. This is especially true in times when fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and dealing with its consequences is pushing people to their limits, putting the infrastructure to the test and putting a huge strain on the city budget.
We invited Christoph Wiederkehr to Armbrustergasse for a discussion with Kreisky Forum President Rudolf Scholten.

Christoph Wiederkehr, born in Salzburg on 12 April 1990, is the son of a French mother and a Hungarian father. His father was expelled from his homeland by a communist dictatorship. This family history has shaped him personally and politically. After graduating from high school in Salzburg, he studied law and political science at the University of Vienna, completed semesters abroad at the University of Sussex and the Australian National University and worked for several years as a student assistant at the Austrian Constitutional Court. He was also active in the liberal youth organisation JUNOS.
A member of Vienna's municipal council and state parliament since November 2015, Christoph Wiederkehr took over the chairmanship of the NEOS club in Vienna City Hall in autumn 2016 and was elected NEOS state spokesperson. In the Vienna state and municipal elections in October 2020, the NEOS - with Christoph Wiederkehr as the lead candidate - achieved its best result to date with 7.41 per cent.
