LEARN THE STORY, MR REPORTER!
Bruno Kreisky - Episodes of an era

Ulrich Brunner
, journalist and author
in dialogue with
Johannes Kunz, Cultural manager, former press spokesman for Federal Chancellor Bruno Kreisky

Journalist Ulrich Brunner followed the Kreisky era with his heart and his pen. After his move to ORF, the relationship with Chancellor Kreisky became more tense, which ultimately culminated in a scandal at the famous press foyer when Kreisky parried a question with the request that became the most famous political quote of the Second Republic.
He has written down his memories of the chancellor of the century from direct contacts and assessments of Kreisky's complex personality, his ground-breaking political legacy and his direct experience. As a contemporary witness and reflective observer, Ulrich Brunner paints a picture of the iconic Kreisky that explains the myth and illuminates the contradictions of this personality.

Ulrich Brunner, born in Vienna in 1938, came from a modest background, completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter after compulsory schooling and went on to gain his A-levels. He embarked on a career in journalism, which led him from the workers' newspaper to the ORF, where he was ultimately director of the Burgenland regional studio. The debate in which the iconic sentence that gave him his title was uttered is legendary and symbolic of the Kreisky era, which is still used as a yardstick in politics today. Ulrich Brunner lives in Vienna.
