Robert Misik in conversation with Elisabeth Scharang
Our crazy life in the pandemic world
„Nothing summarises the craziness of these times more than the word „risk encounter“. The encounter, i.e. social interaction per se, the social itself is associated with the concept of risk, not to say infected.“
Robert Misik
Social closeness, touching, attacking, kissing, holding others in your arms: This chain of life has become a chain of death.
In times of contagion, we are infected before we catch a virus. Loss of control and autonomy, fear and irritability characterise the - literal - pandemic society. The coronavirus pandemic is a stress test for communities and democracy. Rules encroach deeply on our freedom. If they are not seen as comprehensible and fair, this leads to riots. Like a flâneur and »historian of the present«, Robert Misik describes what all this is doing to us. Can we really hope for greater cohesion, »a new us«, for the »crisis as an opportunity«?
The post-corona era will be characterised by a new economic paradigm, but also by an appetite for life and a hunger for adventure.
