2001-2002 Visiting Professor for Cultural History at the Institute for History at the University of Vienna
2002 Habilitation at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena
1994-2001 Research assistant at the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and at the Chair of Economic and Social History at the University of Leipzig
1992-1994 Habilitation Fellow of the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, Cologne
1992 Awarded the first prize for young scientists by the Stinnes Foundation, M\u00fclheim an der Ruhr
1991 Doctorate in Freiburg.
1977-1984 Studied German and History at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg im Breisgau. Scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation
1958 Born in Heidelberg; grew up in Ladenburg am Neckar.<\/p>\n

- Head of the research network \u201ePolitCIGs: The Cultures of the Cigarette and the Cultures of the Political\u201c
- Head of the research network \u201eGAMe: Historical Appropriation in the Media Society\u201c
- Head of the research programme \u201eThe popes in the \u201aforecourt of nations\u2019: the cultural and communication history of the popes in the 20th and 21st centuries\u201c<\/p>\n

At the beginning of 2015, a book co-authored with Silke Satjukow will be published: \u201eBankerte. The story of the children of the occupation in Germany\u201c.<\/p>\n
