Roberts<\/strong><br \/>is Assistant Professor at King's College London, author of Qatar: Securing the Global Ambitions of a City States.<\/p>\n<p>Moderation <strong>Gudrun Harrer<\/strong>, Senior Editor, Der Standard; Lecturer on Modern History and Politics of the Middle East, University of Vienna and Diplomatic Academy of Vienna<\/p>\n<p>Since May, the State of Qatar faces a diplomatic and economic blockade, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, followed by Bahrain and Egypt. They cite Qatar's alleged support for terrorism - the main point being Qatar's relations with Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood. Qatar has long practiced an ambitious foreign policy with different priorities to its neighbours. However, Riyadh's attempt to bring Doha in line with its own new aggressive policies has proven difficult.<\/p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David B.
