It is also rare to find biographies in which the private sphere was so interspersed with the political - with political convictions and their communication. The two left their mark on Austrian journalism in the interwar and post-war period, Marianne Pollak as one of the first socialist members of the National Council to campaign not only for women's rights, but also for the right to abortion, and as editor-in-chief of Die Frau, Oscar Pollak as long-time editor-in-chief of the central organ of the SP\u00d6, the Arbeiter-Zeitung.  Helmut Konrad's dual biography not only traces the lives and work of the two, but also takes a look at how the Socialist Party dealt with emigrants.<\/p>\n<p>A comprehensive political dual biography of two pioneering Austrian personalities and thus a chapter in the history of the early years of the Second Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Moderation<strong> Wolfgang Maderthaner<\/strong>, Historian, Association for the History of the Labour Movement<\/p>\n<p><strong>Helmut Konrad<\/strong>, born in 1948, was Rector of the Karl-Franzens University of Graz from 1993 to 1997 and Head of the Institute of History there. Researches the history of the labour movement, the political history of the First Republic and the history of everyday life. Numerous publications.
