It's not quite Austria, but it is. A right-wing populist in need of love is on the rise, blatantly flaunting his radical right-wing political positions: Media people swirling around him, some of them love-serving, some of them principled: political advisors and other stirrup-holders in supporting roles.<\/p>\n<p>At the centre of the story, as the title suggests, is the setting. How do a photographer and a news magazine portray a politician they don't like? And what about a daily newspaper that is courting a politician? Are journalists allowed to have an attitude at all? How close are politicians and media people - especially in a country where everyone is on first-name terms? Where does friendship end and corruption begin? In conversation with Tessa Szyszkowitz, Doron Rabinovici discusses how important facts are in the age of fake news and who not only depicts the world, but also helps to shape it, when and why.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn view of this reality, every invention is welcome!\u201d<\/em><br \/>\nMichael Wurmitzer, Der Standard<\/p>\n<p><strong>Doron Rabinovici<\/strong>, born in Tel Aviv in 1961, is a writer and historian. His work includes short stories, novels and academic articles: Paprinik (1994), Andernorts (2012), Instances of Powerlessness (2019). He was recently awarded the Anton Wildgans Prize and the Austrian Book Trade Honour Prize for Tolerance in Thought and Action for his work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tessa Szyszkowitz<\/strong>, London correspondent for <em>profile<\/em>, world columnist at the <em>Butterfly<\/em>, author of <em>Real Englishmen.
