After all, it has never been more important to think about the balance between equality and individual freedom.<br \/>\nTo mark the publication of his new book, Yascha Mounk talks to Tessa Szyszkowitz about why it is worth daring to try \u201cThe Great Experiment\u201d and why the answer to the challenge of diversity can only be liberal democracy. After all, despite all the differences, it is the commonalities that ultimately matter in a diverse democracy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yascha Mounk<\/strong>, born in Munich in 1982, is a political scientist and Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University. He also founded the magazine Persuasion and writes for the New York Times, the Atlantic and ZEIT.
