Man\u00e8s Sperber, born in 1905 in Zabolotiv, Ukraine, became known as a sceptical humanist and relentless critic of totalitarian systems. He taught at various universities in Berlin. He received numerous literary prizes for his books. Man\u00e8s Sperber died in Paris on 5 February 1984. In recent years, his works have only been available in second-hand bookshops. He is also President of the Man\u00e8s Sperber Society.<\/p>\n Philipp Blom <\/strong>studied philosophy, history and Jewish studies in Vienna and Oxford.
