After the outcome of the elections to the European Parliament in early June, an informal coalition composed of the Conservative, Liberal and Social Democratic party families agreed quite swiftly among themselves on the division of posts on the top echelons of the EU's institutions. But what will be the long-term consequences of the election success of the emboldened, if still fractured hard-right parties and the significant weakening of the Green parties for the policy mandate of the incoming European Commission? The Strategic Agenda 2024-2029, adopted by the European Council together with the personnel package on 27 June 2024 diagnosed a global political landscape \u201creshaped by strategic competition, growing global instability and attempts to undermine the rules-based international order\u201d. Is the Union prepared to deal with these challenges?<\/p>\n
