{"id":2574,"date":"2018-08-19T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-19T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kreisky-forum.org\/news\/gedenken-an-kofi-annan"},"modified":"2026-04-27T10:31:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T10:31:18","slug":"commemoration-of-kofi-annan","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.kreisky-forum.org\/en\/news\/gedenken-an-kofi-annan","title":{"rendered":"Commemoration of Kofi Annan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We commemorate the great Kofi Annan, who&nbsp;<a title=\"Kofi Annan Kreisky Human Rights Award\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kreisky.org\/human.rights\/deutsch\/pt_detail.php?id=131&amp;suchmodus=1&amp;anfang=A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2007 Bruno Kreisky Prize for services to human rights<\/a>&nbsp;received.<\/p>\n<p>As UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan has had to demonstrate his skills in several delicate political situations; the attempt to persuade Iraq to comply with Security Council resolutions in 1998 and to break the deadlock between Libya and the Security Council in 1999 are just two examples.
