GUDRUN HARRER IN CONVERSATION WITH MANIZHA BAKHTARI
AFGHANISTAN QUO VADIS

Twenty years after the US and their allies toppled the first Taliban regime which had hosted Al Qaeda they are back in power. Their government is non inclusive, first promises of moderation against women and other national Afghan groups vaporised quickly. However, Afghanistan is in danger to suffer a humanitarian catastrophe, and the Afghan people will need the cooperation of the neighbouring, regional and countries of the world to prevent it. The international community is in a dilemma how to act. Afghanistan's Ambassador in Austria, Manizha Bakhtari, will talk about the present situation and the options for the future.

Manizha Bakhtari, diplomat, lecturer, and author. She was formerly Afghanistan's Ambassador to Nordic Countries (2009-2015) and served as the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul (2007-2009) and is currently Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Austria
