AFGHANISTAN - WHAT'S NEXT?

Parallel to the withdrawal of US and NATO troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban, who were overthrown 20 years ago in response to the al-Qaeda attacks in the USA, have seized power again. The Afghan army has done nothing to oppose them. Ideas about what the Taliban's new „Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan“ could look like are still vague. But their return is not only a turning point for Afghanistan itself - and an acute threat to those Afghans who have co-operated with the foreign forces - but also for the power structure of the entire region.
