More and longer? Faster and faster and more driven? Or more conscious, more independent, more individualised? The question of how we will work in the future is probably on the minds of everyone who sees work as more than just earning a living. Work is no longer just about earning a living, it is also part of our own identity and social status. Work should be worthwhile again, offer fulfilment and increase one's own prosperity as well as that of the country - a high aspiration that is all too rarely fulfilled. Precarious and degrading working conditions are not uncommon in Germany either. The digital age is radically changing the world of work, creating new freedoms as well as new constraints: burnout is also the disease of a society in which everything must always be possible.
For his new book „Architects of Labour“, political scientist Sven Rahner spoke to 18 prominent thought leaders and decision-makers from science, politics, business and society. He met the architects of a new world of work who are observing, planning and shaping how work will change in the coming decades: From Brigitte Ederer to Franz Müntefering, from Richard Sennett to Mercedes Bunz, from Günter Wallraff to Thomas Sattelberger - in an interplay with Sven Rahner, they present their blueprints for the new world of work.
