Remarkable Women

On the 80th birthday of Emmy Werner

Emmy Werner
in dialogue with
Hans Rauscher

‚The seagulls all look as if they were called Emma‘ - Christian Morgenstern's seagull song accompanies the life of the princess on the pea soup as well as the play in her table theatre. This play was Emmy Werner's refuge during the war and a substitute for her own room. It was also a trigger for her later career choice ...
An unconventional woman takes a very personal look at ageing, living alone and theatre work. Humorous, critical, but also courageous and encouraging.

Emmy Werner, born in Vienna in 1938. She had numerous engagements as an actress. Founded the Drachengasse theatre in 1979/80, which she directed until 1987. 1988-2005 Director of the Volkstheater Wien.
