COUNTER TAXES
A new economic policy for the post-corona era

ZOOM Online-Talk

Robert Misik, Author and journalist
in dialogue with
Gustav Horn, economist

The coronavirus pandemic, the shutdown and the health crisis have plunged the global economy into the worst crisis in a long time. A long-lasting depression is looming if no decisive countermeasures are taken now with new concepts. After the financial crisis, neoliberalism was quickly back in the saddle - this must not happen again. The outdated doctrines need to be tidied up.
Gustav Horn, Professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen, long-standing Director of the Institute for Macroeconomics and Business Cycle Research (IMK) and member of the SPD party executive, published his book „Gegensteuern“ at the height of the coronavirus crisis. He shows: Wrong economic policies have favoured the rise of right-wing populism for twenty years.
Gustav Horn says: "Decades of neoliberal policies and the failure of the social democratic parties have prepared the ground for right-wing populism. And he shows in concrete terms what a policy change that strengthens democracy and leads our country into a social and ecological future must look like.
