WHY IT IS HIGH TIME FOR THE FEMALE MAJORITY TO BECOME VISIBLE IN THE EU

Daniela BANKIER, born and raised in Vienna. She has worked at the European Commission in Brussels since 1999, currently in the areas of justice, fundamental rights and the rule of law. Between 2009 and 2016, she was Head of the Equal Opportunities between Women and Men in the EU, and before that Head of the Legal Department for Equal Treatment and Anti-Discrimination. From 1999 to 2004, she was an advisor in the staff of the German Budget Commissioner Dr Michaele Schreyer in the European Commission and in 2005 Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Commissioner responsible for Labour Market, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Vladimir Spidla. Daniela Bankier began her professional career in the International Department of the Austrian National Bank, where she headed the representative office in Brussels between 1995 and 1999. Daniela Bankier studied law in Vienna, Paris and at the Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, USA (LL.M.) and obtained her doctorate in 2003 on the legal issues of the European Economic and Monetary Union.
