CHINA AND THE VATICAN
China and the Vatican: A new chapter ?
Against the backdrop of the situation of faith communities in China in general, the discussion between Irene Giner-Reichl and Stephan Rothlin will shed light on the latest developments in relations between the Vatican and the People's Republic of China. In autumn 2018, a historic, widely criticised and largely confidential agreement was reached between the Holy See and Beijing on the appointment of bishops. Stephan Rothlin will also report on his work as a business ethicist in and with China.
Stephan Rothlin, Swiss business ethicist, has lived and worked in China since 1998. He is a lecturer at the University of International Business and Economics UIBE in Beijing and Director of the Macao Ricci Institute at Saint Joseph's University in Macao. In 2013, he founded his own consulting firm Rothlin Ltd. in Hong Kong and Beijing to research and teach business ethics in Asia. He gives guest lectures at universities in Asia, the USA and Europe.
