Initially triggered by fears that a proposed amendment to the extradition law to include China, Taiwan and a few other countries might undercut the City's rule of law and unfettered access to justice, demonstrations, civil disobedience and clashes between citizens and the police have been ongoing now for months in Hong Kong. Hong Kong's special status is key for its continued relevance as a global financial centre. What is in store for Hong Kong's future as a democracy and a global financial hub?
