Bruno Kreisky - Sayings and contradictions
Book presentation
in co-operation with Ueberreuter Verlag
Erwin Steinhauer in dialogue with Wolfgang Petritsch
Bruno Kreisky shaped the Second Republic like no other statesman. His political work as State Secretary, Foreign Minister, SPÖ Chairman and finally as Federal Chancellor from 1970 to 1983 changed and modernised Austria from the ground up. Kreisky's active policy of neutrality during the Cold War earned him recognition far beyond Austria's borders.
His intellectual and rhetorical brilliance and grumbling humour were legendary. His long-time collaborator Wolfgang Petritsch has selected and commented on Kreisky's sayings - often formulated in contradictory ways - for this volume. For example the following:
„It would have looked nice if hundreds of thousands of Czechs, Slovaks, Hungarians and Poles hadn't become Viennese at the beginning of this century.“
Wolfgang Petritsch: I am of the opinion... Bruno Kreisky - Sayings and contradictions
