The world's literature is on the move: As a result of the decolonisation of the 1960s and the globalisation of the last 30 years, a completely new, non-Western literature has emerged, mostly written by migrants and language changers from former colonies and crisis regions. The stories are colourful and full, reflective and tell of transnational migrations and difficult integrations in a wide variety of tones. Sigrid Löffler introduces their most important representatives and categorises their works in a captivating and clever way in the major political and cultural fields of conflict of the present, from V.S. Naipaul, Salman Rushdie, Michael Ondaatje and J.M. Coetzee to Aleksandar Hemon, Teju Cole and Gary Shteyngart.
