"Prosperity for all" - this has been the credo of German politics since Ludwig Erhard. And the ideal of prosperity that lifts everyone has also worked for us for a long time. But today, many people have the feeling that this deal has been cancelled. Inequality is on the rise - in terms of income, wealth and opportunities. Investment is falling, dependence on the state is increasing and social participation is declining. The battle for distribution is getting tougher. This is primarily due to the high level of inequality of opportunity, which prevents people from developing their skills. Marcel Fratzscher shows how politicians can utilise the opportunity presented by the wave of immigration and what they need to do to prevent society from being divided. In an interview with Federal Chancellor Christian Kern, he tries to sound out what opportunities there are for progressive politics in Europe today.
