Europe Reimagined

Europe Reimagined
30 years ago, on 12 June 1994, Austrians voted in favour of joining the European Union. Today, the country must face up to current and trend-setting developments: Instead of rejection and hesitation, an optimistic redefinition of European priorities is needed.
The challenges facing the EU are greater than ever: Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine is calling Europe's security order into question; climate change demands forward-looking action; migration and the protection of external borders require common strategies and solutions; the influence of external actors on liberal democracies is becoming increasingly problematic and, last but not least, the rule of law and common fundamental values are coming under pressure.
How can we deal with all of this? In the anthology »Rethinking Europe«, published by the Austrian Society for European Policy, around 30 fascinating commentaries by experts from different areas of society show how Austria can work towards a strong Europe.
