Russia's Victory and the West's Existential Crisis

Cathrin Kahlweit in conversation with Carlo Masala and Gustav Gressel
RUSSIA'S VICTORY AND THE EXISTENTIAL CRISIS OF THE WEST
Political scientist, security expert and bestselling author Carlo Masala has written a new book called „When Russia Wins“ - which was actually intended to be a dystopian scenario. But since the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, events have come thick and fast; threats that have been sat out, ignored or glossed over in the West are turning into realities at lightning speed. Is Ukraine on the brink of forced capitulation? And will Putin's army soon be on the Baltic or Moldovan border? How close is Washington's pact with Moscow? How likely is it that Nato will still defend its members with the help of the USA? And how likely is it that the transatlantic defence alliance will survive at all?
In an interview with Cathrin Kahlweit, Carlo Masala from the Bundeswehr University in Munich and the renowned Austrian expert on Eastern Europe and military strategies, Gustav Gressel, from the National Defence Academy in Vienna, discuss how capable of defence and war the West is and wants to be. And what needs to happen to prevent nightmares from becoming reality.
