For European social democracy, it is 5 after 12. Left-wing parties are disintegrating, and in some countries social democracy has practically ceased to exist.
Meanwhile, right-wing populist governments are working to divide European society, dismantle the welfare state and unhinge it. Neoliberalism has joined forces with latent nationalism to form an alliance that is dangerous for democracy, attacking institutions, the media and the judiciary.
Social democracy is missing as a strong defender of democracy and the rule of law. The manifesto „Social Democracy - Last Call!“ is an appeal for the cohesion of left-wing forces against the right-wing populist wave that threatens democracy and makes many concrete proposals for the content and strategies of the left.
