THE DISINTEGRATION OF ORDER

LOCATION:
Bruno Kreisky Forum
Panel discussion

Sighard Neckel
Sociologist, University of Hamburg

in dialogue with Isolde Charim, author and philosopher.

Traditional orders seem to be dissolving around the world: new nationalisms are on the rise internationally, the disintegration of the EU seems possible, Christian-religious ties are dissolving and the digital revolution is fragmenting the familiar arenas of public discourse. There can hardly be any talk of creative disruption, as the new orders that are emerging are often old favourites: Nationalism, autocracy and fundamentalism. The disintegration of orders is triggering fears in many people and prompting them to address fundamental questions. Sighard Neckel talks to Isolde Charim about this and possible options for action.
