THE INVISIBLE WORK: CONCRETE REFUGEE SUPPORT

Refugees are on everyone's lips - as the dominant topic, but not as a reality. Beyond all the myths, the Kreisky Forum would like to take a look at this reality. What is the everyday reality of these people, whose fate is discussed daily in the media? And what does the everyday reality of those who accompany and care for them look like? These carers will have their say on this evening and report on their work, which is as central as it is invisible, with all its ambivalences, hurdles and challenges.
One example of this is „Haus Ottakring“, which has been run by Samariterbund Austria since August 2015. Around 30 unaccompanied underage girls currently live there. The girls are between 14 and 18 years old and come from Somalia, Afghanistan, Syria and some African countries. Since September 2015, around 30 unaccompanied underage boys, 20 women and several families have also been living at Haus Ottakring.
