Critics have already called him the „most influential“ (Die Zeit) and the „most controversial“ (New York Times) theatre artist of our time - the Swiss-born author and director Milo Rau. At the beginning of this year, he was crowned the new artistic director of the Wiener Festwochen in a spectacular display of courage by those in charge. He also churns out books in a dense staccato. The „reconquest of the future“ has just been delivered. Milo Rau whirls around the world, it feels like he is on a different continent every week. „Reconquering the Future“ is based on last year's Zurich Poetry Lectures. He interprets poetics in its entirety, as the poetics of solidarity, of communal experiences, the poetics of co-operation. Milo Rau, born in Bern in 1977, studied sociology, German and Romance languages and literature in Paris, Zurich and Berlin. He is a permanent member of the „Literature Club“ on Swiss television, artistic director of the Vienna Festival and resident artist at NTGent. His theatre productions and films have been shown in over 30 countries, have been invited to the most important national and international festivals and have received numerous awards, most recently the European Theatre Prize and the Swiss Film Prize. The „Zurich Trials“ or the „Moscow Trials“ and „Hate Radio“ are legendary.
