A Hungarian-Italian-Austrian evening of reflection
Conversation with
Balazs Csekö, political scientist, journalist and blogger
Lorenz Gallmetzer, journalist and author
Susanne Hofer, gf. Federal Youth Chairwoman of the ÖGB
Robert Misik, publicist
In his new book, Robert Misik, journalist and curator of the Bruno Kreisky Forum, examines the „rule of baseness“ - but it is more than an investigation, it is a pamphlet written with verve against a style of politics that is not only on the rise in this country: the division into an us-versus-them, the rioting, the fuelling of emotions. But authoritarian nationalism has many manifestations: Trump, Salvini, Orban - these names stand for different manifestations.
Instead of a book presentation, we have invited experts to talk to Robert Misik about the „system of perfidy“. Lorenz Gallmetzer, long-time ORF correspondent and expert on Italy, will report on populism in power in Rome, while Hungarian journalist Balazs Csekö will talk about the Orban system.
And the new chairwoman of the Austrian Trade Union Youth, Susanne Hofer, will report from the world of young employees, apprentices and young workers.
An evening of reflection on the „reign of baseness“ - and what can be done against it.
