THERE IS NO LONGER ANY NEED FOR A LEFT

We need new ways of thinking
Armin Nassehi
is a German sociologist. His academic work focuses on cultural sociology, political sociology, sociology of religion and the sociology of knowledge and science.
Since the French Revolution, political and social life has been sorted into the categories of "right" and "left".
Anyone trying to describe our society today encounters a fundamental problem: the old boundaries often no longer work. People used to be on the right or left, progressive or conservative, liberal or social democratic. All problems could be solved excellently within these pigeonholes. But such one-dimensional thinking must capitulate to the complexity of our world and either lose itself in moral appeals or always know what is right. Is the alternative a new networked way of thinking that reckons with instability and loves deviations??
Curation and moderation: Isolde Charim, author and philosopher
The Open Space discussion series was initiated by Thomas Drozda in 2016 to discuss political, economic and cultural changes, exchange experiences, learn from and with each other, facilitate networking and provide impetus for the future.
This open space discussion is an event organised by the SPÖ in parliament and the Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue.
Afterwards, we would like to invite you to the artists' party in the garden of the Kreisky Forum.
