Daniela Schwarzer is a member of the Bertelsmann Stiftung Executive Board. The political scientist was previously Executive Director in Europe and Central Asia of the Open Society Foundations and before that Director of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). From 2020-2022, she was Special Advisor to the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell. As rapporteur of the Franco-German "Group of Twelve”, she was most recently co-responsible for the report presented in September entitled „Sailing on High Seas - Reforming and Enlarging the EU for the 21st century“.
Helfried Carl, diplomat, has been a partner of the Innovation in Politics Institute in Vienna, which he co-founded, since 2019. From 2014-2019 he was Austria's ambassador to the Slovak Republic, before that, from 2008-2014, he was head of office and foreign policy advisor to National Council President Barbara Prammer.
