EUROPE'S LOVE FOR THE USA - A MISUNDERSTANDING?

Cathrin Kahlweit in conversation with Volker Depkat
EUROPE'S LOVE FOR THE USA - A MISUNDERSTANDING?
The US-born Americanist Volker Depkat, who teaches at the University of Regensburg, is one of the best experts on US history and the present; his podcasts and texts on exceptionalism, nationalism and Trumpism have contributed to a better understanding of developments on the other side of the Atlantic for years. At the same time, the renowned researcher also has a very clear view of Western Europeans' image of America, which - as he never tires of emphasising - was shaped in the post-war years, but is in part based on completely false assumptions.
Depkat talks to Eastern Europe expert Cathrin Kahlweit about transatlantic relations, Trump's role models in the East and the authoritarian tendencies in Washington.
