WHO OWNS THE CITY?
Nathalie Luftensteiner joins Ilkim Erdost, Rihab Toumi and Nadine Cobbina to discuss the importance of public space in Vienna. After 1.5 years of the coronavirus pandemic, we can observe a reappropriation of public spaces by young people, although this is also accompanied by successive displacement and restrictions. How do „corona youth“ experience the city, what do consumption-free spaces mean in pandemic times and why is it so polarising when young people rediscover publicly accessible spaces for themselves? The past 1.5 years of the coronavirus pandemic will be recapitulated from the perspective of young people. The panellists also talk about what is needed to meet the needs of the often unheard youth.
