Katarina Barley has been Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection in the German government since March 2018. Together with Udo Bullmann, leader of the S&D Group in the European Parliament, she is the SPD's lead candidate for the 2019 European elections.
Katarina Barley was Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth from June 2017 to March 2018. She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013.
Born in Cologne in 1968, the daughter of a British editor at Deutsche Welle and a German doctor, she studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg and the University of Paris-South. After graduating, she first worked as a lawyer in Hamburg, then as a research assistant at the Federal Constitutional Court and subsequently as a judge. From 2008 until her election to the Bundestag in 2013, she was a consultant at the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection.

Andreas Schieder is Deputy Chairman of the SPÖ and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council, together with Evelyn Regner, Head of the SPÖ Delegation to the European Parliament, he is the lead candidate for the 2019 European elections
From 2013 to 2018, Andreas Schieder was SPÖ parliamentary group leader in the National Council, and from 2008 to 2013 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance. He was first sworn in as a member of the National Council in 2006, before which he was a member of the Vienna state parliament and local councillor from 1997. He has been district chairman of the SPÖ Penzing since 2002.
From 1997 to 1999 he was President of the European Young Socialists (ECOSY) and from 1994 to 1997 Vice President of the Socialist Youth International (IUSY). Andreas Schieder was born in Vienna in 1969. He studied economics at the University of Vienna.
