ARI RATH PRIZE FOR CRITICAL JOURNALISM
On 3 May 2018, International Press Freedom Day, the first Ari Rath Prize for Critical Journalism was awarded in Vienna to Alexandra Föderl-Schmid was awarded. The laudatory speech was held by Franz Vranitzky, former Federal Chancellor and founding and honorary president of the Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue.
In the discussion at the Radio Kulturhaus, Vranitzky said that he was now one of those people who are surprised at what is possible - for example about the memorial service for fascist Ustasha soldiers in Bleiburg. It was more about what should not be allowed in a proper state.
The event took place as part of the Vienna Lectures instead.
