MY DREAM OF EUROPE

On 11 October 2015, the Burgtheater hosted the anniversary celebration for „60 years of reopening after the Second World War“. In view of the dramatic escalation of the refugee and asylum situation in Europe, the Burgtheater put the matinee under the sign of solidarity and made an appeal to „European humanity“. „We must clearly demonstrate that we benefit from encounters with other cultures.“ (Karin Bergmann). The proceeds from the matinee went to the Caritas refugee aid organisation.
The moving speech by the writer Josef Haslinger, „My dream of Europe“, took centre stage. You can read the full text here.
