Oliver Rathkolb: Has Austria's neutrality policy failed?

For too long, foreign policy has been unimaginative and passive. It is time to get actively involved in world politics again. Anything else would be an abandonment of democratic politics
The historian Oliver Rathkolb recalls in his guest commentary in the STANDARD The report recalls times when neutral Austria was more involved in international politics and calls for a return to the past.

Oliver Rathkolb is Director of the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Vienna and author of, among other books, "Die Paradoxe Republik. Austria 1945 to 2015" (Zsolnay-Verlag, 2015). He is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Kreisky Forum.
