Bündnis Zukunft Presse awards the Press Freedom Prize 2026 to Cathrin Kahlweit

Cathrin Kahlweit was awarded this year's Press Freedom Prize alongside three other journalists. The organisations united in the Alliance for the Future of the Press, the Federal Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV) and the Media Association of the Free Press (MVFP), honour outstanding journalists, personalities and organisations who stand for press freedom, credibility and reliability of information under difficult conditions. The motto: Democracy needs many voices. Independent journalism is indispensable for every free society and the people who live in it.
