Bogdan Roščić, Director of the Vienna State Opera

No regular operations for more than a year would be difficult for any organisation to cope with, but it is even more complicated for an institution as sensitive as the Vienna State Opera. What is the position of art in a society that is struggling as much as it currently is? At the same time, the opera's planning horizon is so far into the future that it is now urgently necessary to discuss the time after corona. The eternal question of the role of opera as an art form, but also new ways of communicating art, will also be discussed."

Bogdan Roščić (born 18 April 1964 in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia) is an Austrian music manager. In 1989, Roščić began working as a freelancer for the culture section of the Viennese daily newspaper The press with the main topics being media and pop music. In 1991, Roščić became head of the media, media policy and pop department at the Vienna Courier. In 1993, he moved to Austria's largest radio station Ö3 as head of music, where he was appointed station manager in 1996 and consistently transformed the programme into a format radio station with a focus on pop music, current information and comedy.
Roščić left ORF and moved to Universal Music Austria as Managing Director. From 2006, he was Managing Director of the Decca Music Group in London. From April 2009 to August 2019, he headed the classical music division of Sony Music. Since July 2020, he has succeeded Dominique Meyer as Director of the Vienna State Opera.
