"Big boys don't cry - but they drink more, die earlier and are more violent than women," write Noura Maan and Sandra Nigischer in the Standard. Violence against women is a male problem. In view of the many sad events, it is not enough to talk about protecting women. It is time to talk about men - about male images, male perceptions, male identity. Because this masculinity - both when it is intact and when it feels threatened - is proving to be an eminent social problem.
