Find of the Month, April, from the Kreisky Archive

This stuffed rabbit owned by Anka Kreisky, a cousin of Bruno Kreisky, is part of her estate, which was handed over to the archive this year. It can also be seen in a photo showing the then three-year-old Anka with her older brother Arthur. Anka Kreisky was born in Prague in 1917. Due to her Jewish origins, she was excluded from her medical studies in 1940. Together with her brother, Anka was active in the Czech resistance. Arthur was executed in Berlin-Plötzensee in 1943. Anka survived the war in Prague and then worked as a translator, decorator and set designer for numerous children's theatre productions. She died in Vienna in 1997.
