Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding
Those who seek peace must do more than simply prepare for a potential conflict. It is far more important to ‘equip’ ourselves for peace, dispute resolution, conflict management and reconstruction, and to allocate the intellectual, social, diplomatic, political and economic resources required for these purposes. Multilateral organisations have a wide range of tools at their disposal for securing and restoring peace and stability, and for preventing conflict. Vienna is the seat of the UN, the OSCE and the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, as well as many other institutions that contribute to these goals. In the security debate, the goal of disarmament must not be lost sight of.
Our goal is to make conflict prevention, peacebuilding and mediation an even more important topic for Austrian foreign policy, the security discourse and thus for people and politics in Austria and beyond.
